Health & Wellness Series: Greg Partain, "Stanislavsky's Acting Technique for Optimal Performance"
As part of the Health & Wellness Initiative, Greg Partain presents, "Stanislavsky's Acting Technique for Optimal Performance."
Known as the father of "method acting," Konstantin Stanislavski (1863-1938) revolutionized acting at the turn of the 20th century, freeing the art form from generations of artificiality and stilted mannerism and cultivating the more natural and authentic style exemplified in the best stage and screen performances of today. He spoke eloquently about the challenges that actors face—the same challenges that musicians face as they teach, interpret, perform, and prepare music. In this 50-minute presentation, Partain will introduce several key elements of Stanislavski's approach, "translating" for musicians and applying those principles to the musician's art. The presentation will include a live demonstration on the piano.
Students may earn recital credit from one Health & Wellness event per semester.
