Lecturer of Music Theory
Andrew Vagts, Lecturer in Theory has taught theory at Texas Woman’s University, as a teaching fellow at the University of North Texas, and as a teaching assistant at the University of Minnesota. He has presented his research on Mozart’s music from both musicological and theoretical perspectives at regional, national, and international conferences. He recently presented “Horn Fifths, Fanfare, and Pastoral Topics in Mozart’s per pieta, ben mio” at the 2021 Society for Music Theory. His paper “Fanfare Topics as Boundary Markers in Mozart’s Da Ponte Operas” won the Colvin Award for best student presentation at the 2020 Texas Society for Music Theory. He co-authored “Teaching Musical Structure Through Disney Songs” in The Routledge Companion to Music Theory Pedagogy.
