Choirs
Fall 2024 Choir Audition Information:
Thank you for your interest in singing at Baylor!
Incoming first-year students are eligible to participate in Concert Choir, Men's Choir, Women's Choir, and VirtuOso. All choral ensembles are available to non-first-year students (A Cappella Choir, Bella Voce, and Chamber Singers). All students should complete, prior to their audition or vocal placement appointment, the Choral Information Form found here: https://forms.gle/i9X9bsbdgBKXXhUM6
Incoming first-year students who are interested in auditioning for the Concert Choir (SATB Mixed Choir) should plan to audition in May, during orientation at Campus Connection, or during Welcome Week in August. Those not able to audition in May or over the summer should enroll in Men’s or Women’s Choir and will be contacted in early August to set up an audition during Welcome Week.
Incoming first-year students may enroll for Women’s and Men’s Choir without a preliminary audition. They can then participate in a voice placement process after enrolling.
Current Baylor students, incoming graduate students (music and non-music degree programs), and transfer students should reach out directly to Dr. MacMullen and Dr. McLean to schedule an audition. Questions regarding Choral Ensembles or the Audition Process may be directed to Dr. Kristina MacMullen or Dr. Will McLean
Early Music
The Early Music Ensembles are open to all members of the student body by audition. No previous experience in early repertoire is required.

- Those who wish to volunteer to work backstage are not required to register for the class, but must be available during the scheduled class time and rehearsals.
- Those who want to sing in the opera chorus do not need to audition; just register for the course. Without an audition you will not be considered for named roles.
- this option only applies when there is a chorus in the upcoming opera.
- Non-graduating students must audition in the spring for the following year’s productions.
- Auditions for spring performances are held at the end of fall semester for anyone who has not auditioned previously.
- Incoming Graduate Students: Your graduate audition can count for your opera audition as well, so long as the audition happens prior to casting.
Audition Details:
- Singers will present two selections:
- one aria or art song in a foreign language
- one in English (The English selection can be an aria, art song or musical theater)
- A pianist will be provided at the audition
- the student must provide clean, 3-hole punched, copies of their music in a 3 ring binder for the pianist
