Jann Cosart is Musicology Area Coordinator, Associate Professor of Musicology, and Director of the Early Music Ensembles at Baylor University. She holds degrees from the Early Music Institute, Indiana University (DM), the Medieval Studies Institute, Indiana University (Certificate in Medieval Studies), New England Conservatory (MM), and Arizona State University (BM summa cum laude). A founding member of Altramar Medieval Music Ensemble, her research interests include archival, paleographic, and musicological study of historical manuscripts; and the application and pedagogy of historical performance practice in all eras. Among her awards are Baylor's Outstanding Professor for Distinctive Scholarship in 2008, and an NEH Fellowship for the study of Renaissance music prints. Her publications include Monophonic Tropes and Conductus of W1, and articles in Early Music and Performance Practice: Issues and Approaches. Because of her expertise integrating history and performance, she is often invited to give guest lectures, masterclasses, and workshops; recital appearances include the Monterey World Music Festival, Musica Saacra (The Netherlands), Tage Alter Musik (Germany), and Galway Early Music Festival (Ireland). She has multiple recordings issued by Dorian, Titanic, and L’Oiseau-Lyre.
