Pianist Simone Dinnerstein on the Distinguished Artist Series
Famed American pianist Simone Dinnerstein will launch the 2021-2022 Distinguished Artist Series at Baylor University with a guest concert on Tuesday, October 26, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Roxy Grove Hall.
Simone Dinnerstein has a distinctive musical voice. She first came to wider public attention in 2007 through her recording of Bach’s Goldberg Variations. Since that brilliant recording, she has had a busy performing career. Ms. Dinnerstein has appeared as piano soloist with major orchestras like the New York Philharmonic, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra. She has performed in such world-renowned venues as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, the Berlin Philharmonie, the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Seoul Arts Center, and the Sydney Opera House. To date, she has recorded ten albums, all of which topped the Billboard classical charts.
Music by the intriguing French composer Eric Satie will open the concert, his eccentric Gnossienne No. 3 from around 1890.
That will be followed by Richard Danielpour’s Three Bach Transcriptions, movements from choral works that Danielpour arranged expressly for Ms. Dinnerstein in the summer of 2020.
Simone Dinnerstein will play two keyboard pieces by French composer François Couperin, his Les barricades mystérieuses and Le Tic-Toc-Choc.
Also to be heard on the concert are the Arabesque in C major, Op. 18, by German composer Robert Schumann and Mad Rush from 1979 by American composer Philip Glass.
