Double Bass at Baylor
At Baylor, double bass students receive the individualized attention of a focused studio within the resources of a nationally recognized School of Music. Whether your passion is orchestral performance, solo playing, chamber music, jazz, early music, or teaching, the Baylor Double Bass Program provides the training, mentorship, and performance experience to help you grow as a musician and artist.
Every bassist receives a weekly private lesson, a seat in the Baylor Symphony, and a curriculum shaped to where they're headed. Students aiming for orchestral careers go deep on excerpts and audition preparation; those drawn to solo playing, jazz, early music, chamber work, or contemporary and electronic music have those doors open to them. A typical week includes a private lesson, studio class, orchestral repertoire class, and orchestra rehearsals, plus whatever ensembles fit the path a student is building.
The result is an education that prepares students for professional performance, graduate study, teaching, and other meaningful work in music.
