A Baylor Christmas Continues Traditions, Gets New Look for 2023
The combined choirs and orchestra of Baylor’s School of Music have brought holiday music to the entire Baylor family and throughout the country for well over a half a century. This year, A Baylor Christmas (ABC) will feature new details for all to enjoy, while also continuing to spread cheer with audience favorites like “Go Tell it on the Mountain,” “O Holy Night,” and “O Come, O Come.”
Audience members will enjoy new song selections, graphic artwork, lighting and decorations. They also will hear heartfelt narration woven throughout the concert as ABC’s choral director, Kristina MacMullen, D.M.A., The Mary Gibbs Jones Chair in Music and director of choral activities, takes the audience on a journey of radiant hope.
Conductors Randall Bradley, D.M.A., the Ben H. Williams Professor of Church Music, professor of church music and director of the Church Music Program and The Dunn Center for Christian Music Studies, and Miguel Harth-Bedoya, M.M., the Mary Franks Thompson Professor Orchestral Studies and music director of the Baylor Symphony and Campus Orchestras, will be joined by newcomers Reginal Wright, M.M., lecturer of choral music ensembles, and Will McLean, M.M., temporary lecturer of choral ensembles. Also, making his ABC debut is J. Eric Wilson, professor of conducting and director of bands.
Concert goers will notice large cameras and additional production equipment on and around the stage because KWTX will record this year’s concert to be produced into 30- and 60-minute television specials to be aired in more than 110 markets nationwide—reaching a much larger television audience than before.
A Baylor Christmas will be held in Jones Concert Hall in the Glennis McCrary Music Building on Thursday, November 30, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, December 1, at 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, December 3, at 3 p.m. Tickets go on sale for all three shows on November 1 at 10 a.m.
