The Baylor School of Music is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Jing-Fang Huang as Lecturer in Collaborative Piano.

Dr. Huang joins Baylor following her work at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She has also held an appointment as an adjunct piano professor at Pellissippi State Community College and previously served as a staff pianist at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School.

Dr. Huang’s artistic work centers on instrumental and vocal repertoire, with a particular emphasis on partnership, leadership, and mentorship. Originally from Taipei, Taiwan, she has established a diverse performance career, collaborating with organizations including the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, Knoxville Opera, Marble City Opera, and the Knoxville Suzuki Academy.

Her performance experience spans chamber music, opera, and orchestral settings. As an orchestral pianist, she has toured internationally with the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra, appearing in major venues across Asia, including Suntory Hall in Tokyo and the National Concert Hall in Taipei. Her collaborative work also includes appearances at national conferences and festivals, including the National Association of Teachers of Singing, the North American Saxophone Alliance, and the Southeastern Horn Conference.

An active vocal coach, Dr. Huang has contributed to a wide range of operatic productions, including Suor Angelica, Cendrillon, and Dialogues des Carmélites. She is also an advocate for new music and community engagement, recently collaborating on the premiere of Three Views on Baldness by composer James Devor.

Dr. Huang holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Collaborative Piano from Boston University, a Master of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from Soochow University.

Her teaching is grounded in developing independent musical thinking, attentive listening, and a strong sense of musical storytelling. She is particularly passionate about working across disciplines, supporting both instrumentalists and singers in developing clarity, confidence, and expressive depth.

“I am thrilled to join the collaborative piano faculty at Baylor where each pianist brings unique strengths across instrumental, vocal, and operatic repertoire, backed by incredible support from the keyboard department,” Dr. Huang said. “This environment is the perfect place to foster meaningful musical partnerships for both faculty and students.”
