Braunwin Sheldrick, DMA

Violist Braunwin Sheldrick enjoys a multifaceted career as a performer and educator, with recitals, master classes, and lectures spanning the Americas, Europe, and Oceania. Deeply committed to broadening the repertoire, Dr. Sheldrick’s research centers on Latin American works for the viola, and she has released several recordings highlighting this vibrant music.
A passionate and sought-after teacher, Dr. Sheldrick is a certified Paul Rolland Pedagogue whose motion-based approach promotes healthy playing and technical freedom. She has given master classes across Colombia as well as at institutions such as the Eastman School of Music, the Aaron Copland School of Music, and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Her students have appeared at leading international festivals including Aspen, Verbier, Green Mountain, Summit, Sewanee, Domaine Forget, and the Colombian Youth Orchestra. Many have continued their studies in artist diploma and graduate programs at institutions such as the Mozarteum University (Salzburg), the University of Music and Performing Arts (Vienna), the University of North Texas, the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, the Longy School of Music, and Duquesne University.
Dr. Sheldrick was a member of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, taught viola at the University of Rochester, and served as teaching assistant to George Taylor at the Eastman School of Music. She later held the position of Professor of Viola at the Universidad EAFIT in Medellín, Colombia while maintaining an active career as a recitalist and chamber musician. She holds degrees from McGill University (BMus) and Temple University (MM), a postgraduate diploma from London’s Royal Academy of Music, and the DMA in viola performance and literature from the Eastman School of Music.
