MM in Musicology

The Master of Music (MM) in Musicology offers students the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the manifold traditions, styles and cultural contexts through which music has and continues to define itself.

Students choosing the MM in Musicology will conduct research under faculty mentors who are engaged in scholarly discourse on national and international levels. Classes in research methods and current issues in musicology and ethnomusicology are supplemented by seminars open to musicologists, music theorists, composers, and performers.

Graduates with degrees in Musicology from Baylor have gone on to doctoral study at other prestigious institutions and have become Music History professors themselves. Others have become arts administrators, music editors, and educators in outreach programs of opera companies.

* Graduate Assistantships are offered in the Musicology Area. Please contact Jann Cosart for more information.
