Stephanie Lauwrencia Christianto (MM, piano performance and pedagogy) was competitively selected to present a research poster at the Music Teachers National Association Collegiate Chapters Symposium in January 2023 in Fort Worth, TX. Her research poster is titled "Engaging Color Analysis in Music Reading."

Gabriel Martinez-Cross (BM, performance) took second place in the First Year Classical TBB division at the National Association of Teachers of Singing Texoma Regional Conference (NATS); Emma Madsen (BME, choral) took fifth place in Second Year Classical Treble division; and Alan Hollinger (BA, church music) placed third in Fourth/Fifth Year Classical TBB division. All three are students of Dr. Kimberly Monzón, assistant professor of voice.

After competing in the virtual preliminary competition round as one of 33 collegiate opera programs, Baylor Opera Theatre (BOT) was one of two opera programs selected to advance in two distinct competition categories to the final round of the National Opera Association's Collegiate Opera Scenes Competition in Houston, January 4-7. BOT was one of only two universities to advance in more than one division:

- Opera Division II with the entry, "The Promise of Living" (Act I finale of The Tender Land)
- Musical Theatre division with the entry, "Matchmaker" from Fiddler on the Roof

The 19 students who will participate in the competition are Pablo Aun, Gigi Bautista, Kate Bishop, Leah Boyd, McKenzie Comeaux, Caroline Lee, Natalia Leslie, Ellie McBride, Troy McDonald, Valarie Miles, Emily Pace, Mikaela Pace, Emily Perry, Micah Perry, Davian Raggio, Alan Saldañ-Silva, Rebecca Walsh, Evan Welliver and Riley Winterton.
