Baylor Opera Theatre: Notes on Viardot
This is the Texas premiere of Notes on Viardot, which was written in 2024. The performance features members of Baylor Opera Theatre and the Baylor Symphony Orchestra.
Notes on Viardot is an opera by Michael Ching based on the life of the 19th-century opera diva, composer, and pianist Pauline Viardot. It follows Viardot's career, from her childhood in a musical family to her rise to fame, collaborations with prominent figures like Berlioz and Saint-Saëns, and her relationship with Ivan Turgenev. The opera weaves in music from Viardot's own compositions and arias she sang during her career.
