Kirsten Chambers

Kirsten Chambers is most known for her portrayal of the title role of Salome, which she performed at the Metropolitan Opera, Opera Hong Kong, Florida Grand Opera, and most recently at San Diego Opera. She made her Carnegie Hall debut singing Maria in Strauss’ “Friedenstag” with the American Symphony Orchestra. At the Metropolitan Opera, she covered leading and supporting roles, including Isolde in “Tristan und Isolde,” Helmwige in “Die Walküre,” and Marie in “Wozzeck.” Internationally, she debuted as Elsa in “Lohengrin” at the Savonlinna Opera Festival, reprising the role at the Hong Kong Arts Festival and Opéra de Rennes.

Regional opera engagements include the Angel in “Angels in America” for New York City Opera. In Boston, Ms. Chambers performed the Infantin in “Der Zwerg," the title role in Strauss’ “Die ägyptische Helena,” and Mrs. Poe in “The Voyage of Edgar Allen Poe” with Odyssey Opera. She sang the Foreign Princess in “Rusalka” at Lyric Opera of Kansas City and Wichita Grand Opera. Performed Leonore in “Fidelio” with St. Petersburg Opera, the title role of Tosca with Opera Saratoga, Opera at Florham, and Martha Cardona Opera, where she also performed Santuzza in “Cavalleria Rusticana.” At Indianapolis Opera she performed Donna Anna in “Don Giovanni” and with Opera Orlando Marchesa del Poggio in “Un giorno di regno.” She covered the title role of Turandot with Arizona Opera, and the title role in “Ariadne auf Naxos” at Toledo Opera. Her NYC debut was singing Nedda in “Pagliacci” with the Bronx Opera.

Professor Chambers has been a Guest Artist at esteemed institutions, including the University of Maryland, NYU, San Diego State University, New World School of the Arts, Eastern Oregon University, Florida Gulf Coast University, West Texas A&M University, Butler University, Northwestern State University, University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, University of Toledo, University of Central Oklahoma, and Grove City College.  She has also taught private voice and masterclasses on technique & pedagogy, mindfulness, movement, and the music business at several opera festivals: the Fairbanks Summer Opera Festival in Alaska, the International Summer Opera Festival of Morelia, and the Vienna Summer Music Festival.  She has also taught online with academies like the Vincerò Academy and Atelier d’ Excellence.  She has judged the Jensen Competition, the Shreveport Opera Competition, and the Classical Singer Convention in DC.

Professor Chambers’ teaching emphasizes vocal freedom through an understanding of anatomy, combined with practical strategies for overcoming technical and artistic challenges. She tailors her instruction to each student’s unique learning style, empowering singers to understand, apply, and take ownership of their technique. Above all, she strives to create a supportive studio where students feel safe to explore, grow, take artistic risks, and express themselves with authenticity and confidence.
